The Early Years
In 1977, Outreach Canada began with a simple purpose—helping Canadian donors support missionaries abroad—but quickly recognized that Canada itself was a mission field.
With limited resources to draw on, Outreach Canada pioneered research initiatives that highlighted Canadian church planting needs and opportunities. This led to the formation of the first Canadian ministry initiative, and launched under the name Church Planting Canada.
From the very beginning, early ministry projects prioritized collaborative ministry practices that continue to this day throughout our family of ministries.
Ongoing research continued to expose new challenges in Canada. In the first twenty years our growing team at Outreach Canada focused on strengthening the health of local churches and working with others to catalyze new church plants in Canada.
New Opportunities
When the new millennium came, it brought new opportunities in Canada and globally. Expanding from our strong foundations in research, leadership development and church revitalization, we started to develop specialized ministries for the workplace (workplace chaplains ministry), serving churches during leadership transitions, and even started to mobilize our own international missionaries.
Over the years, Outreach Canada has continued to recognize critical needs and opportunities, to respond with innovation and relevance, rallying the body of Christ toward cooperative solutions.
Today: A Family of Ministries
Today, Outreach Canada’s ministry has grown to become a family of ministries serving in creative ways: bringing hope into workplaces, supporting missionaries and their families, mobilizing new generations for mission, and reaching Canada’s diverse communities.
Through it all, the heart of Outreach Canada has remained the same—to see lives and communities transformed by Christ, by making disciples and equipping leaders.
